Introduction: On Teacher Shortage

Teacher shortage is arguably one of the biggest challenges impacting public education in U.S. On hand, teachers are leaving profession due to lack support and low pay rates, while on other number students entering traditional teacher preparation continue decline. This article introduces five articles included this special issue The New Educator. It highlights how institutions higher education, educators, leaders exploring innovative ways attract new candidates them not only when they pre-service teachers, but also record.
